A luxury summer safari in the Alps is unlike anything else on earth. The snow recedes to reveal ancient glaciers, flower-filled meadows, centuries-old mule tracks, and high mountain passes that have carried traders, armies, and pilgrims across three countries for thousands of years.
But the Alps that most people see — the well-signed paths, the crowded viewpoints, the mountain restaurants booked three weeks in advance — are only a fraction of what is here. The rest of it belongs to the people who know where to look.
A summer safari with SwisSkiSafari is designed for people who want to move through this landscape seriously — who want the physical experience of the mountain, not a gentle stroll between tourist stops — but who also expect their accommodation, their food, and the entire fabric of the trip to be exceptional. The two things are not in conflict. We have spent years proving that.

Like its original meaning — a journey of discovery through a wild and magnificent landscape — a summer safari with us is about moving through terrain that most travellers will never reach, guided by people who know it with the intimacy that only comes from living in it.
Our summer safaris take place across the western Alps at the junction of Switzerland, Italy, and France. We are based here. This is where our guides hike on their weekends. This is where our network of hoteliers, restaurateurs, and mountain professionals has been built over years of real relationships.
Every safari is private. Every safari is bespoke. And every safari is guided by IFMGA-certified mountain professionals who were born in this landscape.

Ancient cross-border routes walked by almost no one today. Exceptional accommodation every night. Food and wine that reflects the best of three mountain cultures.
Suited to every fitness level, from guests who want a relaxed four-hour walk with a long lunch at the end, to experienced hikers seeking technical glacier terrain and high passes.

Guided by people who know every climb, every descent, and every breathtaking road. Our biking safaris range from scenic e-bike journeys through alpine villages to challenging mountain passes that have featured in the Tour de France and Giro d’Italia — all with the option to go electric if you want to cover more ground with less effort. The same private guiding, exceptional accommodation, and obsessive attention to detail as our hiking experiences — just faster.

A helicopter element woven into a hiking safari, for days that reach terrain most people will never stand in. The helicopter is never the whole trip — it is used when conditions are perfect to access high-altitude landscapes that would otherwise take a full day to reach on foot. Always combined with exceptional ground-level guiding across multiple countries.

Our wellness hiking safaris are designed around movement, stillness, and recovery — combining carefully chosen hiking routes with altitude thermal spas, restorative accommodation, and exceptional cuisine. A way to reset that is active, genuinely beautiful, and unlike a conventional wellness retreat.

There are guided hiking trips in the Alps. There are luxury mountain hotels. There are companies that will organise both. What is genuinely rare is a team that actually lives in the region — people who are on the trails every weekend, who know the conditions before the forecast updates, and who have spent years building the kind of relationships that cannot be replicated from the outside.
The difference between a locally-based operator and one working from a distance is not just about knowledge — it is about truth. We know which experiences are genuinely worth having right now, not which ones were excellent two years ago. That kind of currency only comes from being here.
• We are on the ground. Our guides hike these trails on their days off. We know which paths flooded last week, which mountain refuge has a new chef worth the detour, and which routes the guidebooks have stopped mentioning because they are genuinely hard to access without a contact. This is knowledge that only comes from presence.
• We go off the public trails. Leaving the crowded, well-signed paths requires experience, safety knowledge, and local permission. The Alpine environment is serious and conditions can change quickly. We take guests into terrain that demands real expertise to access safely — and that expertise is what makes the experience possible at all.
• We never mix groups. Every safari is private to you, designed from scratch for your group, guided exclusively by your team for the duration of your trip. Our safaris are for active adults — people who want to move through the mountain seriously, not follow a flag on a public trail.
• A safari has a natural flow. We do not move hotels every day. We base you in a region long enough to genuinely feel it, then move when the time is right. The pacing is deliberate, unhurried, and always shaped around the people in the group.
• We curate the whole experience. The hiking is only part of it. We know which hotels deliver on their promises, which restaurants are worth the drive, where to drink coffee in the morning and an aperitivo in the evening, the best places to shop in each village. We know who is new, who has been here for thirty years, and where the quality genuinely lives. This is not information you can find on a review site.
• We handle everything. Transfers, restaurant reservations, helicopter logistics, guide coordination, weather contingencies — none of this is your problem. It is ours.

Our summer safaris take place in one of the most geographically rich and culturally layered corners of Europe. Standing on a ridgeline on a clear July morning, you can see Mont Blanc to the west, the Matterhorn to the east, and Monte Rosa between them. Below you: three countries, three languages, three distinct mountain cultures — all within a day’s hike of each other.
This geography is not incidental to what we offer. It is the whole point. A SwisSkiSafari summer safari is built around the extraordinary variety of this landscape — the ability to experience fondue in Switzerland, pasta in Italy, and raclette in France across a single week, moving through three countries and three distinct mountain cultures without ever feeling rushed.

They are not looking for a package. They want an experience that is genuinely theirs — planned with intelligence, guided with expertise, and delivered with the kind of attention to detail that produces memories rather than photographs.
Our summer safaris are particularly well suited to:
• Couples seeking a private, romantic Alpine escape with no compromise on quality or privacy
• Small groups of friends celebrating a milestone birthday, anniversary, or reunion in a setting that demands something better than a standard trip.
• Families with teenagers or adult children ready for a genuine mountain adventure across cultures and borders
• Corporate groups looking for a premium team experience that goes far beyond a standard incentive trip

How private is a SwisSkiSafari safari?
Completely. We never mix groups. You will not share your guide, your itinerary, or your accommodation with people you have not chosen to be there. Every safari is private to your group from the first conversation to the last evening.
How much does a summer safari cost?
Every safari is bespoke, so there is no fixed price. As a starting point, most guests invest from CHF 1,500 per person per day — and beyond that, the sky is the limit, shaped entirely by what you want. We are happy to have a conversation about what is possible and come back with a detailed proposal.
Can experiences be combined?
Yes, and we often recommend it. A week that includes a heli-drop, will also include days of normal guided hiking, and why not finish with a half day at an altitude thermal spa. All of this is entirely achievable — and genuinely extraordinary. Tell us what appeals and we will work out how to put it together.
How do I start?
Contact us directly. We will have a conversation about your group, your interests, your dates, and what kind of experience you are hoping for — and come back with a proposal tailored around that conversation.
