Alpine hiking in Europe at your own pace

It is hot hot right now. Everywhere. Temperature-wise I mean. So we’ve been doing some alpine hiking in Europe at altitude in the fresher mountain air: just what we need on a scorching hot day.

Alpine hiking in Europe needs the perfect post-hike pause

This week I was lucky enough to revisit a beautiful, famous hotel. The five star Beau-rivage has sweeping gardens overlooking Lake Geneva. Think authentic period architecture with luxurious modern touches. It was lovely to rediscover this hotel and its elegantly renovated rooms.

The French designer Pierre-Yves Rochon updated the rooms here using a color palette from the nearby lake and mountains: soft blues, greens and creams. The effect is a relaxing, sophisticated ambiance. This is the perfect place for a rest after some rigorous alpine hiking. Here you can truly relax before re-entering the hustle and bustle of the real world.

Flexibility means you set the pace

On that note, I received a lovely response to the last newsletter about our new trip “from the Alps to the Alpilles”. It contained a comment that was very helpful to me. It said: “Oh I would love to do that trip but I do not think that I would have the hiking level”.

Perhaps I do not emphasize enough the flexibility of our tailor-made alpine hiking and skiing trips. All of our private trips are for you only, we do not put together groups of strangers. This means we adapt each day and each route to be the most comfortable for our guests. We often change things on the fly due to the weather and mood. And if a local friend tempts us with something fun… well, that may also totally change the day. That is the beauty of living in the region: we host trips with our personal network. We are small and intimate enough to mold our experiences around you. What is better than being totally in the moment, ready to be spontaneous?

Celebrating our past

In between alpine hikes, we are having a blast visiting new and known hotels. Check out our Instagram account @swisskisafari where we share updates and will soon be telling the story of Swisskisafari’s evolution over the years. If we cannot travel the way we would like to, at least we can look back and appreciate where we have come from. Perhaps it will inspire us to dream about where we are going.

If you’re looking for some flexible alpine hiking in Europe or skiing with a dash of luxury and a sprinkling of local know-how, get in touch.

Warm regards from the mountains
