Early snow in the Alps

We love to see sweet, early snow in the Alps at this time of year. It is staying cold and the precipitation at altitude is falling as snow, which is ideal for white-capped peaks. Winter is looking good. While it is hard to predict what the snow will be like all season, when it turns cold and stays cold that is a very good sign. Skiing in early December has been fabulous in the last few years. This means skiing before the crowds have arrived, which we love. People who take the risk to book an early December trip can get very lucky, with perfect conditions and the ski resorts to themselves. Also, they will have no problem getting into the best restaurants. This changes drastically as Christmas approaches, of course.

Seamless movement

Early snow in the Alps also helps for inspiration when planning our trips. Gazing out onto snowy summits makes planning all the more exciting. As the snow starts to fall, and this year it started in September, we are traveling between our three ski safari countries: Switzerland, Italy and France. If we ask you, as a client, to pack up your ski bag then it needs to be for a good reason. For us, that good reason is skiing across a country border. After almost 20 years of running this business we are still super excited to be skiing between three countries and crossing country borders. Logistics may be more complex but, boy, is it well worth it. You leave the details to us, which is why we are approached by people looking for seamless movement.

Spot the difference

Experiencing changes from country to country is what makes ski safaris so special. The first thing we notice is the language of course: French, German, Italian and then back into French if we are going to France. But then again, French spoken in Switzerland is different from that spoken in France. We challenge you to spot the difference. If you love languages then a ski safari between different countries is a trip for you.

Crazy not to

Cuisine is another highlight which we could go on and on about. The cheese and potatoes dominating the Swiss border will make your mouth water, and the fresh pasta in Italy is sheer mastery. And then we do like a convoluted French dessert to finish things off. There is something for everyone when we experience three countries in one trip. We do it because we can, especially when there’s early snow in the Alps. As the countries are touching, it would be crazier not to.

If seeing this wonderful early snow has inspired you to think about a ski safari in the European Alps, give us a call. We would be delighted to put a trip together for you and introduce you to the ultimate ski adventure between Switzerland, Italy and France.

Warm regards from the mountains,

Danielle
