How SwisSkiSafari Began
Founded in 2005, after a week-long avalanche course changed everything
SwisSkiSafari started in 2005, during the avalanche section of a course our founder was taking to become a snowboard instructor — a week spent snowboarding from place to place, covering real ground on the board rather than looping the same lifts, still buzzing and legs feeling it. It was the best skiing she’d ever done. On the train home, watching the same mountains she’d just crossed slide past the window, she made the decision: she was going to build a company around exactly this.
What she brought was different: she was already a travel professional, and now a snowboard professional too, and she wanted to blend the two. That’s how her mind landed on the idea of a safari on skis — a way to travel through Europe with skis and a snowboard as the vehicle, built on trip-planning expertise as much as mountain expertise, aimed at guests who love to ski but also love the sophistication of the Alps.
