20 Feb Luxury Summer hiking in the Alps with friends
We may be skiing right now, but our minds are looking ahead to luxury summer hiking trips in the Alps with friends. Maybe this is because we are skiing the same routes that we often hike in the summer. These mountain paths look dramatically different in each season and it is great to see the terrain in all of its moods. Getting together with a group of friends over a hiking trip is how it should be done. Away from day-to-day distractions, you can fully enjoy quality time to chat. Great hiking, great conversation, wonderful meals along the way and fabulous hotels in the evening.
Different climates, different countries
This year we have a few luxury summer hiking trips planned which will take our guests across country borders, over the Alps and down to the lakes. We love these weeks. No two trips are the same. The micro climates in this region make you feel as if you have been on multiple journeys. Experience the dramatic snow-capped Alpine peaks as well as the mildness of the lake shores in one holiday.
Luxury Summer hiking in the Alps with friends
This is an excuse to cross country borders, get out in the fresh air, stay in luxury hotels with wonderful spa services and try different sports along the way. We might start with hiking, then jump on an electric bike and finish with a boat trip on the lake. We like to mix things up and cover a lot of territory under our own steam which is very satisfying.
Where you rest your head in the evening is important
A big part of luxury hiking in the Alps with friends is the accommodation. Do not underestimate how much where you stay can make or break a trip. There may be many ingredients: hiking, biking, the routes we take, the scenery, the wonderful restaurants, the local stops along the way, but the hotels are a crucially important. We like to mix up the style of hotels that we use. Whether you prefer sleek modern or a traditional chalet, the trick is to choose the rooms carefully. In many smaller boutique hotels in the Alps the rooms are vastly different from one to another and not just the category. Often, in older buildings the rooms each have a unique aspect. Be it the view, the decoration or the size, when we get this right for a group of friends the trips become magic.
