03 Dec Skiing and hiking brings loved ones together
Time and choices
Struggling to find the time to get together properly these days? We love how skiing and hiking brings loved ones together. Life is too busy for quality connection and for some reason no-one has the boundaries necessary to reduce that overwhelming drain. It is one of the reasons that I am so happy when I receive a request for a group of friends to come hiking or skiing together. We only do private skiing and hiking trips in the Alps. This means I get exposed to amazing groups of people who have chosen to bring together their loved ones for the experience of a lifetime.
Private skiing = your own little bubble
We love the challenge of designing that bubble. I love to create a trip that is right for the group, carefully considering the reason they are coming together on a trip like ours. It might be a romantic encounter or even a secret romantic rendezvous. On this type of trip it is not only the skiing that counts but the attention to detail that counts. The hotels, the spaces within the hotels, the ambiance, the service. A fireside lunch stop on the mountain where you can while away an afternoon, or an experience in a village surrounded by locals to soak up the European lifestyle. If it is a group of friends, it is different again. Our winter and summer trips bring loved ones together with an activity that feels magical. These are a privilege to plan and give me great satisfaction.
The quiet power of ordinary people
Our hats are off to those who make the effort of organising these trips. It is not easy to get everyone on the same page at the same time. It takes a lot of work and a lot of attention to detail when bringing loved ones together. I am the lucky one who sees the results and the rewards of giving those few humans who truly shape your life the time, and that is what matters most.
The value of having friends
I read recently that friendship is a skill you develop, not a lottery you win. The more I do this job and the more I organise these private trips the clearer this point becomes. People who have solid relationships with other people have worked at it, have given it the time and have made the choice to be with the people that they want in their lives. These people invest in their friendships. I feel so privileged to be able to create bonding environments. These might be in the form of a private skiing trip in the Alps, or for a group of friends who decide to take a week and hike together. This is a part of the joy of this job, to see this in action. So bravo and hats off to all those organisers that I work with to pull these trips off to bring their loved ones together. It is a privilege to help you work on your relationships.
Warmest regards from the mountains,
Danielle
