Privately guided summer hiking in the Alps

Planning in advance for privately guided summer hiking in the Alps

We may be awaiting more snow this weekend, but that doesn’t stop us from planning privately guided summer hiking in the Alps, too. Each year, ski resorts shut down right after Easter and everyone Alpine takes off for a well-deserved break. Sometimes that break can extend all the way into June. This is when our first hikers are preparing to don their boots and discover the mountains. So it is crucial if you have VIP guests, as we always do, to prepare well in advance.

The best privately guided summer hiking in the Alps is planned ahead

Of course this refers to all that you can prepare in advance. The best plans for aspects we can control means more time to manage the things that need to stay flexible in the moment.

What we need to think about

For big groups, early restaurant reservations are key. Even better if this involves access to special places that others cannot reach. Perhaps this also entails choosing a special menu for your guests so that they can sample the best that the region has to offer. At the beginning of the season not all establishments are open so it is important to have thought about this and researched where the best places will be. Last minute plans are rarely the best option.

Private summer hiking and small boutique hotels

We love the smaller hotels. They often mean more attentive service, a better experience of the region and a more intimate contact with the locals. However, smaller establishments have fewer rooms so it is important to make bookings early.

You can probably tell that full Trip Planning Mode has begun. We are excited to be preparing some fabulous trips for our guests this summer. All they will need to do is relax, turn off the brain, turn on the legs and breathe in that beautiful fresh mountain air.

Warm sun and a cool drink

For summer in the Alps, think flowered mountain pastures and wonderful terraces with a cool glass of local wine alongside fresh regional specialities. Cool evenings means deep sleep after a wonderful day of hiking. Perhaps you’ll choose a massage to help ease those legs into the program. As one guest put it, there is nothing better than being able to think of nothing else but your next step while looking at some of the most stunning alpine scenery in the world.

Warmest regards from the mountains,

Danielle
