Alpine heli-skiing 2021

Alpine Heli-Skiing 2021

For the lucky few living in the regions, Alpine heli-skiing in 2021 and ski touring has been spectacular and continues to be. Certain areas of the Alps have been receiving unprecedented snow fall for weeks.

I was saying to a friend the other day that I love planning Alpine heli-skiing trips and she was curious to know why.  I needed only a minute to think before giving my reply.

Snowfall to safety: the ultimate challenge

Creating bespoke Alpine heli-skiing trips is the ultimate challenge for me, bringing together my whole skill set. My knowledge of helicopters and how and where we can move through this geographical region that we call the Alps. Where we can and cannot land, where we can pick up and drop off, distances to fly and the time and cost involved. Heli-skiing and the way it is organised is significantly different from region to region and country to country. We primarily heli-ski in Italy and Switzerland and heli-transport in France, where heli-skiing is not permitted. Trips often include the challenge of border controls when crossing from country to country when heli-skiing. And of course navigating the security issues of snow stability, snow quantities, temperatures, wind and the effects of the geographical environment on our heli-skiing. These are all the safety aspects, the measures required to ensure people can enjoy this safely. And finally, the human factor which is perhaps the most important of all. Group sizes, experience level and the changes we need to make depending on if we are we are dealing with skiers or snowboarders or both.

Trip Logistics

Add to this the trip logistics. Choosing the best places to stay in each area and the wonderful meals and wine that put the cherry on top of any Alpine heli-skiing adventure.  Having a great team of pilots, guides and transport people help to make this all work. It is just pure fun.

Get in touch if Alpine heli-skiing in 2021 is something you would like to try.

Warm regards from the mountains.
