Summer hiking in the Alps with Swisskisafari

Summer hiking in the Alps

If you feel as though you work too much and forget to have fun, it’s time to don your hiking gear and head for the mountains for some summer hiking in the Alps.

I imagine many people think that doing a job like this is fun all the time. Well let me tell you, the days in the office make you quickly forget what fun is. In fact, is it not until I get back out on the road, on the trails and on the ski slopes with my guests that I realise how fun hiking, skiing and biking in the mountains really is.

Summer hiking in the Alps will plant the seeds of fun

Credit where credit is due, our clients are a lot of fun. They come to us with great ideas of how to bring fresh thinking to skiing and hiking in the mountains. Then, we use our huge network of contacts and local knowledge to take these ideas and turn them into reality for our guests. Now that is fun. It is fun being challenged, it is fun trying to work out how to create the perfectly seamless trip. A trip that rolls the way it should and feels like the days flow into each other logically. Of course, reality behind the scenes is different, but we are certainly happy that it looks this easy.

Romance between mountains and lakes

This summer we have some fun romantic trips lined up. It is so nice that people want some summer hiking in the Alps even on a honeymoon. As it should be, if you ask me. However finding the right balance of the activities is a skill, especially when one partner may not have the same physical ability or desire as the other. We also pride ourselves in finding the right mix between authenticity and romance in the choice of hotels and routes we select. The best way to design these trips is to put yourself in the place of the couple and work out if it is going to produce those ‘wow’ moments, and of course fun and laughs while hiking in the mountains.

In between seasons

We have a few in-between trips this year. By that, we mean trips that are not in summer and not really in winter. Our challenge is to prove that we can have fun in the mountains without skiing or hiking. For inspiration, watch this space.

Tailor-made hiking fun, uniquely for you

It is a privilege to specialise in tailor-made trips. We like to be eclectic, unique, have fun and change the plan: a lot you can’t do on a set itinerary on a set date. We also do not believe that set itinerary trips are well suited to the Alps because the plan should always be flexible to morph around the weather and the guests. So, having your own private guide with the freedom to change the plan as he/she feels necessary is imperative to the success of any summer hiking trip in the Alps.

Combining different regions

If you know what we do then you know this already but we love to include more than one country in our trips. This is because geographically this is our playground and we can easily jump from one country to another, but it is also because it is fun. It is hard to believe how different each country is, when they are situated so close by. If you close your eyes you would miss the border when traveling from country to country but when you arrive the differences are exciting, exhilarating and seriously good fun.

Warm regards from the mountains,

Danielle
